Services in English
English-language services are held in Turku every Sunday.
English-language services have been held at Turku Cathedral for more than 40 years. Now that the Cathedral is closed for renovation work, the English-language services are held at Aurelia Parish Hall (Aurakatu 18).
An English-language Eucharist is celebrated at Aurelia every Sunday at 4 pm.
Everyone is welcome to the service! The members of the congregation represent a variety of churches and backgrounds. Services usually follow the practices of the Finnish Lutheran Church and the Church of England. Once a month we have a Mass of Trust, a service with Taizé songs. This service is held in both Finnish and English.
Many of the people attending our services are members of the Lutheran Church, some belong to the Anglican Church, and many come from other churches. We invite all baptized Christians to receive Holy Communion.
Activities
Bible Studies
Our English-language Bible Study meets about twice a month. In the group we read and discuss the Bible readings for the coming Sunday service together. The conversations are open and relaxed, and no previous knowledge of the Bible is needed.
Bible Study offers an opportunity to reflect on faith, life, and the meaning of the scriptures together with people from different countries, churches, and backgrounds. Questions and different perspectives are always welcome.
Coffee Fellowship Hour
Before our Bible Study and some Sunday services, we gather for a Coffee Fellowship Hour. The idea is simple: to share coffee or tea, meet people, and spend time together in relaxed conversation.
People from many different countries, churches, and backgrounds take part. Some come regularly, while others visit for the first time. You are welcome whether you would like to speak, listen, or simply enjoy a quiet cup of coffee in good company.
The Coffee Fellowship Hour is open to everyone.
Other international programs
An International cafe is held every Sunday between 17:30-20 at Puutarhakatu 24. You are welcome to come alone or with a friend! You can either come to meet new people or to just enjoy the warm atmosphere. We offer coffee, tea and snacks.
A group for retired immigrant ladies is held at Varikko Centrum (former the Deacon Center) at Puutarhakatu 22. To sign up for the group contact Minna Iljanka, 040 341 7291, minna.iljanka@evl.fi.
